With over 18 years of experience as a dedicated SEND professional, I have supported children and young people across both primary and secondary educational settings. I specialise in dyslexia assessments and specialist tuition, helping learners to understand their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their potential. I am also qualified to carry out access arrangements assessments, ensuring students receive the appropriate support for examinations.
My approach is warm, supportive, and centred around the individual needs of each learner. Recognising that every child learns differently, I tailor my assessments and teaching strategies to build confidence, develop skills, and promote independence.
I am committed to providing a high-quality, professional service and to building positive, trusting relationships with students and their families. Through personalised support and evidence-based practice, I aim to empower learners to succeed both academically and personally.
My Story
My journey into supporting learners with SEND began after studying Childhood Studies at university. I started my career in a primary school, supporting children with a wide range of additional needs, before progressing to the role of Assistant SENCO in a secondary school. Working across both primary and secondary settings has given me valuable experience and insight into the challenges and opportunities learners face throughout their educational journey.
Passionate about developing my knowledge and expertise, I went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Inclusion and SEND, followed by my qualification to assess for access arrangements. Wanting to further specialise in supporting individuals with dyslexia, I trained at Edge Hill University and gained my Dyslexia Teacher and Assessor qualification.
Today, I work with families and schools across Lancashire and Bolton, providing dyslexia assessments, specialist tuition, and access arrangements assessments. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is helping learners and their families gain a clearer understanding of their strengths and needs, providing answers, guidance, and support that can make a real difference to their confidence and educational journey.
When I'm not working, you'll often find me in the kitchen baking - although I'm not actually a huge fan of eating cake! I also enjoy exploring the Lake District and am slowly working my way through the Wainwrights. Accompanying me on every adventure is my loyal dog, who follows me everywhere, including up some of the biggest hills. These walks give me the chance to recharge and appreciate the importance of perseverance, resilience, and enjoying the journey - values I bring to my work with learners every day.
